Forgotten
A heart long forgotten
Fragile and old
Put in the attic
Collecting dust and cobwebs
Its been years since this heart has been used
The person as cold as the winter
Not needing a heart
No compassion for those he hurts
Leaving destruction in his wake
He forgot he even had a heart
Until one day a little girl approached him
And asked him why he was so cruel
The question stumped him
He searched everywhere
Giving up when he reached the attic
But finding hope when he looked upon the highest shelf
Gingerly reaching for the heart
He closes his hand over it
As it's warmth radiates through him
Memories
A box filled to the brink with items of the past
A torn, dirty teddy bear from my childhood
Old dolls I grew bored with
Photographs from first grade
A Halloween costume
A drawing I made in the fifth grade
Books that were never a challenge to me
Melted crayons
Coloring books and markers
A game-boy used many times
Mini clay bowl
Photos of me and friends
Books bags tattered and worn
All packed into one box
And stored away
The Meadow
You run through the meadow
Carrying your school books
Trying to ignore the pain
That fills you to the brink
Ignoring the tears that run down your face
Escaping the bully's that live to hurt you
Tripping over a rock
You fall down
As the books fly out
You wait for the crash
But instead the books freeze
Still in the air so close to the ground
Sitting up, you look around
Finally a place where everything stops
Before you can get hurt
Laughing as you dance around
Forgetting the pain
You & Me
Together we'll float away
These balloons carrying us
far away
From the world to this imaginary place
I like to call wonderland
Where are dreams come true
And I'm with you
We dance all day
And watch as our dreams fade away
We can be together forever
And when the helium is gone
It won't matter
Because I'll be with you
Scattered Memories
One day you got up and packed your bags
I questioned you
And all you said was get ready
You wanted to take a road trip
We called our other friends
Together we set out on a cross country trip
But this was not an ordinary trip
With us we took photos
Of our friendship over the years
Each place we scattered a few
Written on the back was Best Friends Forever
Leaving a piece of us in New York, Kansas, Montana and so on
I wonder if anyone found these photos
Play
I want to play in a band with a crazy name
Not for the money or fame
Oh no I want to play
To have fun
Let loose and ignore the others
This is no game
I play to be at peace with the world
For there is no better feeling than wowing the crowd
I want to be a pop star
Just for the day
Or hey maybe a country star
Blues, Jazz and rock are not for me
There's nothing better than playing country music
My Window
I approach my window
A place to find inspiration
As I look out I marvel at what I see
Children playing tag
Enjoying the innocence of their lives
Dogs running free
Escaping abusive homes
A young couple going for a walk
Finding no flaw in each other
I even see myself
Dancing in the rain
Forgetting my worries
Letting the rain wash them away
I also see a world filled with love and hate
Two guys pull out a gun
As they rob a bank
A drunk driver hits a car that holds a family
A girl walks down the street
And a guy mugs her
Tanks being driven in a war
Buildings being bombed
Soldiers that die, never to see their family's again
A daughter clings to her mother as she says her last words
A father smiles as he holds his newborn baby
A little boy slides onto the home plate
Smiling as his team lifts him up
A soldier comes home for the first time in years
As his family cries with joy
A standing ovation for a girl as the lead in a play
Showered with roses as she bows
A window that's shows wonders
Lemonade
A hot day
Two boys and one girl
All siblings
Nothing to do
Until the oldest boy suggests a lemonade stand
The second oldest; the girl agrees
So they unfold the table
Make the sign
And mix the lemonade
Not too sour, not too sweet
25 cents a cup
Standing for a while
Waiting for their first customer
Giving up when someone comes along
A girl with curly red hair, freckles and hazel eyes
One cup of lemonade coming up
A second customer arriving after the first
A boy no older than twelve, dark hair and eyes
A second cup sold
A girl no older than the second eldest sibling comes
She has brown hair, brown eyes and a friendly smile
A third cup sold
The total comes up to 75 cents
More customers walk by, all looking to cool off
With a nice cold cup of lemonade
One Rose
Roses planted in the spring
Last all summer long
Stay in bloom during autumn
And die when winter comes
Except for one rose
This white rose stays alive
All year long
Never droops or wilts
Survives off loving care
Each day soaks up water
This one rose is special
It stays alive year round
Pretty and vibrant in the spring
Soaks up the sun each summer day
Stays crisp during the fall
And lives on in the winter
Some might say this rose is magical
But to the rose's caretaker
The magic is in the love
Forever it will live on
Till the day it closes it's petals
Allowing room
For more roses to bloom
Invisible
She is a girl
Who stands ideally by
Waiting for someone to notice her
She is a lost soul
Dieing to be heard
Hoping to be found
She watch's as the years pass
The seasons change
And people come and go
Longing to no longer be invisible
Never to be noticed
Always invisible
Butterflies
I watch as they fly
Up towards the sky
Making swirls and patterns
I find it peaceful watching butterflies
They're a creation of nature
They have beauty
That many people wish for
Sometimes I wonder
Why can't I be a butterfly?
Lost Heart
There is always a heart
That is lost
Fall in between the cracks
Stepped on too many times to count
Broken beyond repair
This heart is stuck between to floorboards
Waiting to be found
And instead remains lost
Forever
Wandering Heart
This heart has been broken many times
Stomped on
Smashed to pieces
And the owner of this heart
Absorbs the pain
Walks through the rain
Just to find someone that loves her
She is a lost soul
Never giving up on her search
For true love
Willing to take any pain
Stands up after being broken down
Time after time
We call her
Wandering heart
Lost Love
He walks through the rain
She stares out her window
Both looking for love
He is a kind heart
She has been hurt many times before
He would never hurt a fly trust
She is afraid to trust
On one fatal full day
He walked by her window
She looked out and saw her lost love
He saw her as she ran outside
She ran to him, holding on tight
Neither willing to let go
Afraid to lose each other again
She says I love you
He says I love you too
They make a promise and seal it with a kiss
They have found their lost love
Last Kiss
For years you have stood before me
While I stood beneath you
You the master
And I the puppet
You pulled the strings to my heart
Hurting me each time
The pain so unbearable
I cry out for you to stop
You stomped on my heart
You ripped it out of my chest
And most recently smashed my heart
Finally you stop pulling the strings
You no longer want me
I beg you to stay
That I love you
You refuse
I cry for days
What have I done to make you go away?
You have yet to answer
If you must leave
Then I ask you please
Will you allow me one last kiss?
Love Charade
You beg me to forgive you
I cannot stay with you
You only used me for your mind games
You wanted her all along
Did you not see that I was in love with thee?
Every I love you was a lie
But I saw through your love charade
I made a change for the better
I pushed you away
Wanting my freedom
Next time
I'll think before I love
Plead with me all you want
I'm done with games
I need someone who can love me
For me
Find You
On that cold winters day
I saw you among a
