The Diary Of Desiree Page 2

Oh my god how wrong can I be. Hannah thinks Ian's really nice, but she is not interested in him. She likes Brianna. I really don't think I could have been more wrong. She thinks Bri's absolutely cute and funny, and sweet. We ended up staying up all night talking, her about Bri and me about Ian. And we have decide to help each other out.

Hannah's going to find out if Ian likes me, and I'm going to see what Brianna thinks about Hannah. And report back to each other with what we find out. We used to do things like this when we were little, to find out what gifts we were getting for birthdays or Christmas. We were so sneaky that our parents had to start talking in codes around those times.

  Chapter 23

Okay so I just got off the phone with B, and she said she had a nice time last night. Also she does have a crush on someone. But she wouldn't tell me who, so this might be harder than I thought. It's not that she doesn't trust me, I think that if it is Hannah that she likes, she might not want to tell me. Maybe she thinks I wouldn't like them together. Although I have to admit at first it me be strange, they would make a cute couple. Bri with her pixie cut black hair and green eyes with Han and her long blonde hair, which is straight as a pin, I don't know how she get's it like that, and blue eyes would look adorable. After all they do say opposites attract.

And yes B does like girls, wasn't that hard to figure out after we first met, in ninth grade. She was in a relationship, but it didn't end well. She was upset for weeks. Which resulted in a lot of ice cream containers littering her floor, and we must have watched a Cinderella story a hundred times.

Okay but back to the topic at hand. I didn't find out much, and Hannah couldn't figure anything out.

Other than that her crush on Bri's super obvious (to everyone but me apparently). One way or another we'll figure this stuff out.

  Chapter 24

You know I guess I've never really told anyone the story of how Brianna and I first met, and became friends. It was during the divorce, a month after mom and dad announced the split. They had begun their little war with each other and I was pissed. Not only did they use me to get back at each other but they completely ignored me. So I did the only thing I thought that would get their attention; I got into  fights.

At first it was nothing major, just telling people off. But soon it escalated until I finally punched Cindy in the face. It was third period, and she was going off about how crappy I looked that day, and just being annoying. So I finally turned to face her and punched her in the face. Which was quite the surprise to her, seeing as how she let out a shrill screech and almost cried. To this day she tells people that I just went nuts and decided to hit the first person I saw, which just happened to be her.

And yeah some people believe her, but a lot know what really happened. Believe it or not I got cheered on by some students who really wanted to hit her, but were to afraid or couldn't afford to get in trouble again. Considering she's crushed a lot of people's self esteem, I wasn't all that disappointed in myself, other than allowing her to get to me.

The fight got broke up before she could hit back, and not by a teacher either. Instead I saw Brianna staring at me, and telling me to walk away, Cindy wasn't worth it and just a witch. So I went and hid out with her and Amy, her then girlfriend, under the bleachers, until a teacher found us and escorted me to the principals office.

My punishment was suspension, and my parents blaming my behavior on one another. I learned a few things that day; I throw a good right hook, some people just bleed easily and Brianna was someone to have as a friend, when things were looking down. Oh and I started seeing the school counselor, which lasted the rest of the year, until  she decided that it was a one time thing.

  Chapter 25

Okay well I have 30 minutes left before my parents get here, and we head off to spend the day together. And then go back to mom's (she got the house in the divorce) for dinner, where we'll be joined by Hannah, Aunt Jean and Gram and Gramps. It's 2:30 right now, so five hours with my parents. Well I hope I survive this.

I mean I handle this, maybe. A better question is; can they? Five hours together, attempting to be pleasant and nice to each other? They just might explode into a million tiny pieces. And leave scorch marks in their place, and I would be covered in lil bits of parents. Unless I explode too. Gosh I'm nervous.

  Chapter 26

So yesterday wasn't actually that bad. I actually had fun, and they were civil to each other. Of course they did try to out do each other with the gifts. So they came to an agreement; Mom will pay for college tuition and stuff, and dad bought me a car. Not a brand new one mind you, but a very nice used one, that I like. It's a blue Chevy Malibu, a few years old in pretty good condition.

Dinner was nice, Hannah got me a cd and Aunt Jean got me a gift cards for a couple places. And grandpa and grandma got me  some pencils and notebooks, since I've started writing in my fear time. Just short stories and poems. Oh and Brianna got me some makeup, nail polish, lip gloss, just a few things.

Well I'm heading out with the girls to get some movies, and sweets so our slumber party can begin. Not that any of us will get sleep.

  Chapter 27

Its the dawn of a new day, and I am regretting all the sugar I ate yesterday. I need to like go run a lap just to perk up. And B has finally admitted who she likes. Indeed she does have a crush on Han, who is just jumping for joy right now, her crush has a crush on her. No really, she's jumping on my bed just repeatedly saying 'omg'. Actually starting to give me a headache, so I've thrown a pillow at her.

And now she's gearing up  to throw it back at me, so I need to run.

  Chapter 28

So Hannah finally asked Brianna out, after reciting what she wanted to say in front of a mirror. While I watched from the doorway. And B said yes, so now they're headed of the movies, because it's the best they could come up with. I am on the other hand, sitting here alone, kind of bored. Actually it looks like someone is moving in next door, hold on let me check.

  Chapter 29

Okay some one is definitely moving in next door. And yes I am spying on them in what is probably considered creepy from my bedroom window. I'm crouched on the floor and peeking up over the ledge. Hopefully they don't see me doing this, because it would make a terrible first impression. I mean it's probably not very neighborly to watch them from a window, when you can just go introduce yourself instead.

Looks like a family, a very big family. Five kids from the looks of it, which compared to my family is large. Not that I didn't use to want a sibling, preferably a little sister. But that was when I was like five. So far I'm counting four girls, one about my age or older  from what I can tell. One that is definitely younger than me by a couple years, and a five year old. Which leaves the fifth kid, who is a guy, and appears to be my age. Oh and there's a baby, also a girl.

Kinda cute too, short of shaggy black hair, and hazel eyes which are staring directly at me. Shit. This is not a drill, I repeat this is not a drill. I have been spotted.

  Chapter 30

Oh no. He came over here, he's downstairs talking to grandma. Because once again I am spying, but this time in my own home. I'm crouched down at the top of the stairs, peaking down at them. And he's asking who the girl from the window is. Which grams responded to saying that it's me Desiree, their granddaughter who lives here. Somebody strike me down because this is embarrassing.

And now she's asking what he means by the window. He's explaining that he saw me watching him and his family. She's telling him where to find me, and they're turning towards the stairs. Once again I've been spotted, and this time I have nowhere to run.

  Grams is shaking her
head, while the guy just smirks at me. I can feel my face burning, god this is mortifying.

  Chapter 31

I've learned two things today. One, spying when you're five is a lot easier and much cuter. Two the boy next door's name is Adam. He did not think I was too creepy for watching them. He gets the whole curiosity thing. However he said that in the future, to just come over instead. Much better way to introduce myself.

Also I was right, he is my age and will be attending Willow Creek high next year. So we'll be seeing each other around if we don't talk at all for the rest of the summer. Adam invited me over to meet his family, and have dinner tonight. So I guess those are my plans for tonight.

  Chapter 32

Adam's family is so nice and normal. His oldest sister, which is a grade above us, is Claire, who is really mellow and stuff. Then there's Ginger, who will be starting ninth grade. Followed by Hope, starting at Willow Creek Elementary, only in first grade instead of kindergarten. Apparently she's quite smart. Finally we have baby Angel, which is quite an ironic name from what I've seen so far.

His parents are nice, both teachers, but at different schools. His dad teaches English at the middle school and his mom is the high school art teacher. And they adore me, already making quite the impression on our neighbors.

  Chapter 33

Well dearest diary it seems that I lost you a while ago, and have just now found you. Because I just finished cleaning my room. Which was very messy and it took me at least three hours, but now it's spotless. Well except for my polka dot lamp, I mean that has blue spots. Haha, if Bri was here she would just shake her head and walk away. But she is currently visiting Hannah, who lives in Cherry Hill, a few towns over.

Hmm lets see, what have I not wrote about since losing you. Oh it's mid August now, and on top of cleaning, I've also gone school supply shopping with Adam. Who has gotten a very nice tan if I do say so myself. But don't say anything to Ian, wouldn't want him to get jealous. Ha! Like you could say anything, I keep this diary hidden.

Ian asked me out back in July, finally. And we've been dating ever since. Which has made for a few double dates with Hannah and Brianna, which I just realized rhymes. It's been an okay summer so far. Hard to believe that I'm two years away from graduating school. Been feeling nostalgic lately.

  Chapter 34

It's already messy again, and I just cleaned it out yesterday. I think it's time that I admit I'm a slob, and I cannot organize anything to save my life. Truly it's sad, even my locker at school has always been messy. It's time for a change. Starting this school year, I am going to stay organized even if it kills me.

  Chapter 35

Yes I lost this diary again, so next time I'm taping it to the wall or underneath my desk. Today is officially the first day of school, which on one hands I'm ready, I've got my friends, and on the other hand I'm not because I just know someone will annoy me today. And it's best not to start the first day of the school year off, by sitting in the principals office.

Although I've heard rumors she moved, and started going to private school, so I guess we'll see if the rumors are true or not. Time to leave as I'm Adams ride to school, which makes being an only child awesome. Not having to share a car.

  Chapter 36

First day down, however many more to go. So far I've found that Adam has four classes with me, English, french, science and art. And then I have math with Brianna, and then we're all together at lunch. Adam's discovered no matter how many times he tries to get my attention in class, that I will ignore him. Which he then does something incredibly stupid, like oh I don't know, 'accidentally' spilling paint on me.

I now have a giant blue stain on my arm, that refuses to wash off. And I've been scrubbing at it for hours. I will get him back for this, no matter what happens. Revenge will be mine. And it will be sweet.

  Chapter 37

We started a paint war and now we are waiting in the vice principals office, trying really hard not to laugh at each other. I painted a stick figure on his shirt, when the teacher wasn't looking. It escalated so quickly, and now there's paint everywhere. Although I must say we look good in the colors of the rainbow.

By the time the teacher turned around the table was covered and so were we. And our claims of 3-D art did not work, as she was not amused. Had fun at least.

  Chapter 38

The end results of our paint war are both of us being grounded, a warning and separated in art. And if we do something like this again, they're putting one of us in a different class. Also the other teachers have been warned about us and our shenanigans. Brianna has also dubbed us Double Trouble. It's caught on, and it's getting annoying now.

Speaking of B and being grounded, I am unable to go on a double date with her, Han and Ian. Majorly sucks but we will all live. And it's only a week, we can always do it another time. When we're not completely swamped with homework. Not that Ian and I have seen much of each other lately, he's got a busy schedule with work and school, on top of applying to colleges.

Oh and on the Cindy front, she has not moved but was away for awhile. Strangely enough, she's managed not to say one rude thing to me. I heard she and Derek broke up, and it seems like something changed with her. And I don't just mean the break up blues. Cindy completely ignored her friends since school started.

Hate to say it, but maybe she's changed. Or maybe not.

  Chapter 39

Mom just called and said she has some news, and will be here in twenty minutes. Just her alone, which means it doesn't involve dad or anything like that. So what could it be? Has she met somebody, and hopes I approve/ understand? Did she meet someone and fell for them and wants to run off to Vegas, to get married? Alright so maybe that last one is a bit far fetched.

Or she could be going on vacation or something. Have some kind of life threatening illness. Oh god I don't like the suspense of waiting, but she insisted she tells me in person.

  Chapter 40

Okay she just pulled in and I've managed to calm myself down. No need to get freaked out just yet. I have quite the imagination and sometimes it just goes over board. Though I'm wondering if she's wanting me to move in with her. I mean, this is what I'm used to now, and the house doesn't exactly have great memories.

But maybe I would. I'm sure she gets lonely in a house that big.

  Chapter 41

Alright so it was nothing that I thought it was, except she was seeing someone. And still is of course. The big important news is that I'm going to have a sibling in eight months. I'm still kind of processing the information, but I'm definitely excited. Sort of hope it's a girl, but hey a brother is fine too.

And she's selling the house, but not until she finds a place. New kid, new memories as she put it.

  Chapter 42

I've been thinking lately about my favorite memory with my parents. And I think I have finally found it. It was December 6th, and I was five. We had just put up the tree, a fake one to save money.  Dad had just brought up the decorations from the basement, and mom was wrapping garland around the tree. I began digging through the box, looking for my ballerina ornament. I hung it on a lower branch, and went back for more.

Since I couldn't reach higher up, I climbed up on a stool to hang some more decorations. Finally it was time to put the topper on. Mom picked me up, and lifted me to the top so I could set the angel on top. She used to tell me bedtime stories about how the angel would look over us at night and keep us safe. When I asked what happens when the angel is gone, did it still watch over us, she said that no matter when we were or where the angel was, we would always be safe.

It was the best time back then.

  Chapter 43

&
nbsp; I've been so swamped lately that I've found it hard to keep up with writing each day or even each week. It is officially October and I am loving it so far. There's nothing better than nice chilly weather. And of course who doesn't love Halloween? Brianna is insisting that we have our movie marathon again this year, but invite Hannah and Ian.

  Which sounds nice except...

Things with Ian have been different lately, at least for me. Somethings missing from our relationship.

It's not as exciting as it was before. Nothing to do with him heading off to college next summer, it's just not really working anymore.

It's the same thing anymore, double date with Han and Bri, go to the park etc. Maybe it's time for a change.

  Chapter 44

Well I have officially broke up with Ian. I do not regret my decision, I simply made the decision that I thought was right. Was he upset? Yes a little bit. But I'll be fine, despite what my friends and family think.

  Chapter 45

Okay so maybe I am a little upset but that's only because we had great times together. It's hard not to be sad, but I'll be fine in the end and move on. Until then I have Adam to keep me company while I question whether or not I made a mistake.

  Chapter 46

I am sitting on the roof, which was not easy to do. First I had to climb out my window without falling to the ground, while holding a blanket, a diary and a pen. Almost fell and came close to dropping everything. Now I'm sitting cross legged on my blanket, while staring up at the stars, and instead of thinking something really profound and deep, all I can think is that nutella and fries would be awesome right about now.

Which is funny when you think about it, because I can write stories that sound great but then I think something like that. Goes to show that even the greatest writers have the most ordinary, or sometimes strange thoughts. Well would you look at that, Adam's decided to climb up on his roof too. And now he's waving at me to come over, but I'm not going through all that stuff again. So he can just come over here, if he wants to talk to me.

  Chapter 47

It's so gloomy today, both the weather and peoples moods. I stayed up forever last night talking to Adam, who made his way over to my house. He did not almost fall though, since he's been climbing up on the roof since he was seven, while simultaneously scaring the shit out of his parents. That's mostly what we talked about last night, just swapping stories.
